Duwancho

Natural

Our Duwancho Natural lot is sourced from Bombe Village, located adjacent to Daye Bensa’s Gatta Farm in Sidama Bensa, Ethiopia. Grown at elevations ranging between 1920 and 2020 meters above sea level, the high altitude and cool climate allow the coffee cherries to mature slowly, producing dense, flavour-concentrated beans. The lot is characterised by its smaller screen sizes (predominantly 13-14), which reflect the slow development of the cherries at these elevations.

Cherries are carefully hand-picked at peak ripeness and undergo an initial floating process upon arrival to separate any lower-quality or underripe fruit. Only the finest cherries are selected for natural processing. The selected cherries are then dried on raised African beds under carefully monitored conditions for 14 to 18 days, ensuring optimal drying and flavour development. After drying, the cherries are hulled locally into unsorted natural beans and then transported to Addis Ababa for final sorting and quality grading.

This meticulous process highlights the unique terroir of Sidama Bensa, producing a cup profile that reflects the region's distinct altitude, climate, and processing expertise. The result is a clean, vibrant natural coffee with exceptional sweetness, clarity, and complexity.
